Monday, 15th of June 2020. Sylt in times of the corona pandemic VI.

Dear Guests,
Dear friends of Hotel Benen-Diken-Hof ®,
Dear friends of the Island Sylt.

On Monday, May 18, 2020, we were able to reopen. The first guests are back with us – to the hotel, our restaurant and the holiday houses. By the 18th of May the lockdown will have lasted nearly 10 weeks on Sylt and we have used this time to thoroughly prepare for the returning of our guests to the new “normal”. Our corona concept is ready.

Next easings are scheduled for June 29, 2020.

With our “Hotelkoncept of vast extent” our guest can feel rather safe – just like at home.

We can offer 68 self-contained apartments or houses in which you can relax and responsibly keep distance. Our Credo for “the time after”: “We want to offer our guests the well- deserved recovery and relaxation whilst making sure to keep the corona infection risk as low as possible.”

How is this possible? What we know right now, 15th of June 2020.

You will arrive wearing a facemask and check in at the reception desk of the Benen-Diken-Hof ® for rooms and apartments or at our office at the Keitum trainstation for the holiday houses. The set up at our front desks is designed so that no infection can take place.

It’s good to have you here.

From now on you will act just like you would at home.

First of all we all need to make sure to follow the sanitation rules.

This means, keeping 1,5-2m distance between you and us, wearing a mask in the public areas of the house (reception, corridors, hotel toilets..) washing hands regularly and using the hand sanitizers provided around the hotel.

Safety in the restaurant, on the outside terrace and in the lobby area is provided through the placement of tables and chairs, which are placed according to the rules making sure to keep the necessary distance between our guests.

For our breakfast we are now no longer offering a buffet but an “a-la-carte” service. New is also that you now need to make reservations absolutely everywhere on the island – also with us. Because we have to schedule you in. Please make your reservations (best via telephone or at check-in) at the front desk(breakfast, coffee/tea, cake, dinner and room/apartment service) and be sure to maintain your time of reservation.

When entering the food and beverage areas please wear your mask until you are seated at your designated table. Now you can relax, take off your mask and enjoy your glass of wine or meal. We will take good care of you from now on and make sure to let fresh air in frequently. As soon as you leave the table we kindly ask you to put your mask back on. Currently, a maximum of 10 persons from several households may be placed at one table.

Given the current circumstances you are only allowed to sit around a table with your family or the party you are travelling with. To ensure tracking of infection chains we are obliged to write down your personal information. This will already have been executed at check-in.

What else is possible? You will be able to workout in our gym “milon ®-Zirkel”, which requires a reservation made beforehand. You can also book massages as well as mani- and pedicure treatments. The use of the pool and the Finnish sauna is also possible by prior reservation.
What is unfortunately not possible? Bar, bio-sauna, steam bath and SPA cannot be used at first.
Child care cannot be offered.

So this is now the new “normal”… keeping distance, wearing masks, staying amongst your own, washing and sanitizing your hands regularly,  getting outside and enjoying the fresh air, cycling or hiking around the island, swimming in the ocean, relaxing, recovering – enjoying Sylt.

A few more notices:

The golf event PRIVATEOPEN ® SYLT 2020 is rescheduled and will now take place from the 2nd-8th of May 2021. You can of course book your spot already.

We also had to reschedule our open air event “Verdensballet” which will now take place on Thursday the 15th of July 2021. The purchased tickets for “Verdensballet 2020” remain valid for the 2021 performance.

It is of course also possible to get a full refund for your 2020 ticket, however we do hope that you will still join us for this extraordinary event and would like to invite all guests, who have already purchased a ticket for the 2020 event to a glass of champagne at the 2021 event.

Take care and see you soon.

We are happy that we could start again. And we will make sure to take good care of you here on Sylt. This we promise you.

Your hosts at Benen-Diken-Hof ®,

Anja & Claas-Erik Johannsen and Johannes Welker
